| Germania Olympic Games workpacks |

The Olympic Games take place in the United Kingdom in summer 2012 and
are the topic of our latest major publication. This material is available in French, Spanish or German, and each
workpack contains 20 activity sheets in full colour which can either be printed
out or uploaded to your school intranet. Each pack also contains additional "Bonus Sheets" and a glossy
A3-size poster.
Accessible to the full ability range, this pack targets pupils completing their second year of language learning and above. A basic
understanding of the past tense is required for comprehension purposes. The sheets cover a wide range of ‘Olympic’
themes ranging from their origins to individual events and participants and are designed to appeal to those with or without
an interest in sport. Vocabulary and structures all correspond to National Curriculum criteria. The exercises comprise puzzles,
gap-filling, questions and answers in the target language, pairing-up activities etc - although the ‘medal’
section at the end of each sheet provides greater scope for creative writing/design in the form of differentiated extension
tasks. The ‘Top Twenty Olympians’ section also offers opportunities for free reading though
it should be pointed out that their identity does not always coincide with the theme of the sheet – these Olympians
have been selected in a recent poll conducted by a panel of international journalists.
